ACS Citation Generator ("we", "our", or "the site") is a free online citation tool. We are not affiliated with the American Chemical Society. This Privacy Policy explains what information we handle when you visit the site and use the generator.

We use information only to: •Operate and improve the citation generator and related pages •Process metadata lookup requests and return formatted citations •Maintain site security and diagnose technical issues •Understand aggregate traffic patterns (if analytics are enabled) We do not sell your personal information.

The generator may contact external APIs to fetch bibliographic metadata (for example CrossRef, Open Library, or Google Books). Those services have their own privacy policies. If you paste a URL, our server may request that page to read public metadata. We recommend not submitting confidential or private URLs you do not want processed by our systems.

The site may use browser local storage to remember your bibliography list between visits. This data stays on your device unless you clear your browser storage. We do not use local storage to track you across unrelated websites.

The site is intended for students, researchers, and general academic use. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data through the site, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.

You can clear saved bibliography entries at any time by removing them in the tool or clearing your browser's site data for this domain. You may use the generator without signing in and without providing personal details.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
